The Hoosiers release the world’s longest song in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust

16/08/10

Today, The Hoosiers release one of the longest singles ever produced in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust. Called ‘Stop Giving Me Verses’, the single will be available to download from iTunes Monday 16 August, and more widely available from Monday 23 August. Sony Music will make a donation of ten pence from each lawful download sold of “Stop Giving Me Verses” before 30th September 2010 to Teenage Cancer Trust, the charity dedicated to improving the lives of young people with cancer, with Sony Music committing to a minimum donation of one thousand pounds (£1,000) from such sales.

To create the track, the band asked fans to send in extra verses written for the current single “Choices”. Twenty two winning entries have been chosen and added to the track, making the finished version forty minutes long. The winning fan’s photographs will appear in the video as their verse is sung by the band, as well as appearing on the sleeve of the download release.

Teenage Cancer Trust is Sony Music’s staff charity of the year. Paul Bursche, Comms Director Sony Music, said “This is a great idea on the Hoosiers part to involve their fans in such a creative way. We are thrilled that proceeds from it will go to our charity of the year, Teenage Cancer Trust who do such incredible work.” Teenage Cancer Trust is a UK charity devoted to helping young people fight cancer by giving them access to the best possible care and professional support. The charity believes teenagers should not have to stop being teenagers, because they have cancer. It funds specialist teenage cancer units within NHS hospitals which enable young people to be treated together, by an expert team, in the best possible environment. Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on quality of life and aims to improve the chances of survival for young people with cancer.
