Teenage Cancer Trust considers sponsors for multi-million fundraiser at the Royal Albert Hall
24/08/10
Teenage Cancer Trust today announced a headline sponsorship package to help fund their multi-million pound fundraising concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, worth around £350,000. Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall is a unique and exclusive event in the British music and entertainment scene, and represents a great opportunity for brands looking to engage with a music orientated audience. The 10th Anniversary concerts in 2010 were the biggest and most successful to date, raising a record £1.7million for Teenage Cancer Trust’s work supporting young people with cancer.
The 2010 concerts saw global investment bank Nomura take on the first ever headline sponsorship of the event, and the charity is hoping to replicate this successful partnership in 2011. The event also offers a number of additional sponsorship and hospitality opportunities, snapped up in previous years by American Airlines Gibson, M&M Direct.com and BGC. By supporting these events the new sponsors would be joining an elite group instrumental to the success of the event.
Anthony Harte, Director, Community Affairs, EMEA at Nomura said, “Nomura’s sponsorship of Teenage Cancer Trust’s concerts at the Royal Albert Hall exceeded all expectations. The level of employee engagement, brand awareness and fundraising delivered a fully integrated sponsorship campaign involving over 1,300 employees throughout the concert series.”
The demographic reach of the event is considerable, with media coverage alone in 2010 achieving an advertising value equivalent of over £5 million, reaching 67% of all UK adults. It generated 228 pieces of print coverage with a total circulation of over 120 million as well as 318 pieces online. It also benefits from an advertising campaign reaching over 35million.
The concert series provides a number of high impact branding opportunities including an advertising campaign, the interior and exterior of the Royal Albert Hall as well as tickets, merchandise and programmes.
Roger Daltrey CBE, Patron of Teenage Cancer Trust said: “When The Who first got together in 2000 to raise money for this brilliant charity, I had no idea we’d achieve so much from these shows. In the last ten years we’ve raised over £10.4 million, helping Teenage Cancer Trust improve the lives of young people with cancer the UK.
“Teenage Cancer Trust has come such a long way since our first gig and I’m extremely proud of this event. I’m forever inspired by the support I have received from the artists and members of the music and comedy industries. Next year will be no exception and we hope to break records again for Teenage Cancer Trust!”
