Post Graduate Certificate
We fund an online Post Graduate Certificate in Cancer Care for Teenagers and Young Adults.
Teenage Cancer Trust works in partnership with the University of Coventry to provide a Post Graduate Certificate in Cancer Care for Teenagers and Young Adults. The online course aims to introduce the theory and practice of caring for teenagers and young adults with cancer and their family to students for advanced practice level. The course comprises three mandatory modules:
Teenagers and young adults with cancer in today’s society
- The development of TYA from biological and psychosocial perspectives
- The impact of a cancer diagnosis and illness on TYA
- Societies view of TYA; culture, spirituality and sexuality
- Policies and organisations of health services/core delivery
The teenager/young adult and the cancer journey
- Disease patterns for TYA with cancer
- The cancer journey for the TYA
- Responses to life changing experiences
- Family systems
- Ethical and legal issues
Interprofessional work based learning
- The meaning of WBL, leadership and project management
- The value of reflection
- Research, audit and quality in practice
- Interprofessional roles
This course has been developed through an international curriculum development group in order to enable the material to reflect the different health care cultures that exist and to support students as they explore new ways of working together.
