Schools, colleges, and universities

Teenage Cancer Trust visits over 90 schools each month, with each session attended by between 100 and 200 pupils. That’s around 130,000 pupils a year.

Whether through a one hour, ready-made PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) lesson, or at an assembly, Teenage Cancer Trust helps young people learn about how to spot the signs of cancer and what it is like to be a young person with cancer.

We want to teach every young person in the UK about cancer before they leave full-time education, supporting the current Healthy Schools programme. The importance of positive health choices is stressed in the PSHE syllabus for all four key stages.

“I found the talk to be uplifting, humorous, educational and extremely thought-provoking. I know that all of the pupils involved learnt an incredible amount.”
PSHE Coordinator, Denbigh School, Milton Keynes

“I was in your talk today and although I don't know anyone who has been affected by cancer I found the talk really helpful. Now I feel that I could cope better or help someone through it the best I could and I just wanted to say thanks."

Petition your teachers

If you think your teachers need a bit of persuasion to book one of our FREE talks then use the form below to give them that much needed push.

Print off the form below and get as many of your friends to sign it before handing it in to your teacher.

Universities

We also give talks at universities across the country.

If you’re at University and think that our talks might be relevant to your chosen course or profession then do get in touch. You'll hear how cancer impacts the lives of teenagers and about the particular problems faced by this unique group of patients. In just one hour we’ll explain why the specific needs of teenagers fighting cancer are not currently recognised within the NHS system and tell you about how Teenage Cancer Trust is working to address this.

“Students and staff members attending found it useful and relevant to their studies. Students always comment how much they have learnt from this interaction with a ‘real’ person.”
Senior Teaching Fellow in Clinical Pharmacy, University of Bath
