South West
Over 160 young people in the South West are diagnosed with cancer every year. Teenage Cancer Trust is helping to give them the fight and attitude they need to beat it. Find out all about what we’re up to in this region and how you can get involved and support our appeal.
University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is the designated Teenage and Young Adult Principle Treatment Centre for the South West. Teenage Cancer Trust is keen to support the development of age appropriate care facilities for Teenagers and Young Adults with cancer within the hospital Trust. These facilities will be available to young people from across the region. Keep checking back here to see how our plans are progressing!
Thanks to the generous support of people in the South West who have donated to our Appeal, we're already funding a Teenage Cancer Trust Lead Nurse and a Youth Support Coordinator based in Bristol. Our Lead Nurse is working with other hospitals across the region to ensure that young people have access to the care and support they need when they're diagnosed with cancer. Our Youth Support Coordinator is providing individually tailored support and activities on and off the ward, and encourages patients to socialise and remain active as young people.
We also fund a Teenage Cancer Trust Education and Advocacy manager who's working hard to educate young people in the region about cancer awareness. He also works with young people once they have been diagnosed to make sure their education and training needs are being met and they can return to school or work when their treatment is over. Please contact us if you would like a visit to your school, college or youth group.
Our work is only made possible by fundraising and we rely on the generous support of individuals, companies, trusts and community groups. Please support our appeal and help young people fight cancer.

Langford Live 2011
The first ever Langford Live event took place on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th September. On the Friday night there was an Opera evening which was a huge success. Event organiser Lady Paula Wills said 'It was very tear jerking when a Trustee from Teenage Cancer Trust spoke about her late daughter and Melissa who has been treated on a Teenage Cancer ward in Newcastle, singing with The London festival Opera and speaking about her experience on a Teenage Cancer Trust unit, there was hardly a dry eye in sight.'
A mini intimate rock festival, followed the next day with Ocean Colour Scene among the 5 bands, one new band was the Wild mercury Sound, who everyone is now saying, is one to look out for in the future, so we are proud that they came to the gig here. All of this raised a sum in excess of £50,000!
Huge thanks to the Wills Family for kindly allowing the use of their grounds and well done to all on the organising committee for such an amazing event.
Sainsbury's success in the South West!
Huge congratulations and thanks to all staff and customers at Sainsbury’s Winterstoke Road store in Bristol who have raised an amazing £10,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust’s South West Appeal over the last year.
This is a huge effort and we really appreciate all of the hard work that went into raising the money.
We are delighted to announce that we will be working with the store for another year, and also welcome a new Sainsbury’s store on board in Street, Somerset. We really appreciate all they are doing to support Teenage Cancer Trust.
